Shooting at GOP baseball practice; House Majority Whip Scalise shot

A gunman opened fire at a GOP baseball practice in Alexandria, Va., on Wednesday morning. At least five people, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., and two Capitol Police officers were wounded. Rep Scalise has been badly injured but at this time looks as though he will fully recover. Alexandria Police Chief Michael Brown said officers responded within three minutes of reports of shots fired and engaged the shooter, who was shot.

The gunman is in custody and is no longer a threat.
